Introducing central heat pump hot water systems for homes, townhouses and villas
Demand for domestic hot water keeps growing. Instead of heating water with gas stoves or electric water heaters, which carry potential safety risks, residential heat pumps have become the first choice for high-end apartments, villa developments and multi-room townhouses thanks to the safety and convenience they offer.
The central heat pump hot water system for homes is a solution designed by TechConnect Vietnam engineers, drawing on their technical expertise and tailored to each household. It combines a heat pump with an insulated storage tank, a pump system and the associated accessories.

Key:
- Residential heat pump
- Electrical control panel
- Small-capacity insulated storage tank
- Water supply pump
- System connection materials
How a residential heat pump system works
In nature, heat always flows from a warmer place to a cooler one. But just as a pump can lift water from a low level to a higher one, this heat pump system moves heat from a low-temperature source (the surrounding air) to a higher-temperature one (the hot water storage tank).

- First, the compressor compresses the refrigerant gas to a high temperature of around 80°C. The hot refrigerant is then sent to the hot coil, also known as the heat exchanger.
- Here, the pump pushes cold water from the storage tank through the hot coil, where it absorbs heat and warms up. The heated water is then returned to the storage tank.
- Having given up its heat to the water, the refrigerant cools, condenses into a liquid and passes through the EEV expansion valve to the cold coil.
- A fan draws in outside air and blows it across the cold coil. The refrigerant absorbs heat from the air, evaporates and returns to the compressor to begin the cycle again.
- The water heating process continues in this way until the water in the storage tank reaches the set temperature, at which point it stops.
Choosing a heat pump for your home
For households, depending on the number of bathroom fixtures and daily demand, heat pumps are available with capacities from 1.5 HP to 3HP, paired with storage tanks from 150 to 500L. The most popular sizes are: 1.5HP, 2HP, 2.5 HP
Benefits of a heat pump system for your home
- Heat pumps save your household 70% to 80% or more in energy compared with conventional electric water heaters.
- Hot water arrives within 3s to 5s of opening the tap, with no long wait as with other electric heaters
- Heat pump systems supply hot water 24/7 and keep it hot for up to 72h.
- Completely safe to use, with no worries about current leakage or dangerous electric shocks, and no risk of scalding.
- The system runs day and night, all year round. Even when the outdoor temperature is – 5°C it can still produce hot water thanks to its automatic defrost system.
- Hot water settings can be set as required, with fully automatic on/off timers and adjustable heating times
